“This is just one small example of what makes Western PA students great,” says David Areaux, chair of the Department of Physician Assistant. “They participate in several efforts like this each year, giving students an opportunity to make a real difference in the communities we serve.”

“I encourage everyone to continue to give back to others wherever you may be,” says class president, Lauren Vandenberg. “You have no idea the impact one small sacrifice or act of kindness can have on another person until you experience it firsthand. It’s more than just medicine!”

Larry -

We’ve had the chance to get to know Larry the past few months as he is one of the key individuals on our Delivery Team. Part of our model for restoring the lives of the homeless, addicted and of those in need in our community, is employing them to help us give back to those in need. It’s a beautiful idea and has helped to give opportunity to those who are on track in recovery to work part-time serving others.

Some of Larry’s past decisions still impact his current life, but he makes the best of every circumstance. Larry hasn’t had a driver’s license for a few years, so he doesn’t drive a car to work. Larry saved for months to buy and fix up not one, but two, mopeds that he relied on for transportation…. check out his story…

Just when I start to feel things are getting too tough and have a hard time believing in other people, great people like you guys turn a bad thing into a blessing and make me remember that everyone is not bad... and helps restore my belief in mankind... but only through God.

Beverly -

When we first heard Beverly's story, our hearts were broken. She was hand-picked by the staff at KGM to recieve a huge blessing. Check out the video, below...

Miss Beverly is a single grand mother of a young boy. She has custody of him and has been raising him in the Kalamazoo area. She is committed to the area because of the Kalamazoo Promise, which she is hopeful will give her grandson a wonderful future. Beverly has been taking the bus for months, faithfully working to provide the best future for her grandson. She has been a survivor her whole life, overcoming so many personal obstacles, like donating a kidney to a family member... and the hardest... successfully fighting off cancer. She is focused and determined, a sweet and sincere lady with a heart of gold. A wonderful friend of KA donated this great car to us.

Jay -

After a hard road to recovery, Jay graduated from the KGM Life Regeration Recovery Program in 2018. He was on staff at KGM, was working in construction, but didn't have a reliable form of transportation. We were able to gift a car to Jay from an anonymous donor. We are so proud of Jay for leaning on the Lord, and he's proof that the Lord makes all of our paths straight!

Some encouraging feedback from our volunteers…

Partnering with KA has been a gift not only to the Dome & NLP, but to myself and my family. Part of the mission of the business (Next Level Performance and The Dome) is to serve others and this has been the perfect opportunity to do so. On a personal level, however, the relationship has meant so much more to me – my kids have learned so much from the kids we meet through KA and I truly believe my kids & I have benefited from it as much as the kids from the Gospel Mission have benefited. We treasure our time with KA and are so grateful for the opportunities it has provided us!

KA means so much to me. It gives me the opportunity to work with amazing kids who don’t have much. It has shown me how little these kids have, yet we only see them happy because of what KA does for them. These kids are truly aspiring and I am so appreciative that KA has opened my eyes and my heart and has let me work along aside them

The Kindness Acts Family is insanely generous! It had been amazing to be blessed by them and watch them bless the homeless families of our community. They are an integral part of the Kalamazoo Area!
